Bass Camp

We pulled into Lower Bass Camp on river right by 1pm, giving folks the afternoon to explore. The more ambitious members of the group hiked up to Bass's historic camp, but D and I decided to take it easy and let our feet soak in Shinumu Creek (a short boat ride downstream). The idea of shade was appealing to us whimpy northwesterners.

Shady Grove

Crystal Rapid came soon after launching. I got to ride in Sandra with Greg, and for this one rapid, no one fish-eyed. Maybe a little too dangerous and too much risk of hitting the wall on the left. Devon joined us afterwards though and we both got chances to ride in front in the jewels (Agate, Sapphire, Turquoise, Emerald, Ruby, and Serpentine). My camera spent every rapid in the drybag, but this morning it was stashed so well I didn't even get pictures of Crystal from shore.

We stopped on river right for an early lunch - I'm making a stab based on the timing and the maps that it was New Shady Grove.

Schist Camp

As the sun set, we began to see camera flashes and even some headlights (the shuttle bus?) up on the rim (Pima Point?).

Pound cake, with strawberries and whipped cream for dessert. And strawberry shooters for the more courageous and less inhibited of our group!
